The building of the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, at Milton Court, includes a 625 seat concert hall, a 225 seat training theatre, a studio theatre, and associated teaching, office, and support areas. This world-class School is located over the first 6 floors of the development. A 40-storey residential tower is located directly on top of the school and will comprise of 284 luxury apartments.

Objectives

- Conduct a BREEAM Bespoke Design & Procurement Assessment and advise on achieving a "Very Good" sustainability rating.

- Conduct a Code for Sustainable Homes Assessment and advise on achieving a "Level 3" sustainability rating.

We were entrusted with the challenge of achieving a BREEAM Bespoke "Very Good" rating while taking into consideration the very particular and specialist requirements of the Heron & Guildhall School of Music & Drama.

Achievements

The Heron is the first residential tower to be built in the City of London in 30 years that needs to meet the new stringent requirement of a Code "Level 3". We worked hand-in-hand with the large design team to find sustainable and financially viable solutions to particular issues pertaining to the high-rise nature and location of the development.
