The BREEAM Retail assessment methodology can be applied to new-build as well as existing retail buildings. An assessment can be commissioned by the design teams, managing agents,  landlords, or even individual tenants of a retail development. 

All types of retail space can be evaluated at any of the following phases:

• New build or refurbishment phase: BREEAM Design & Procurement

• Retail store fit-out phase: BREEAM Tenant Fit-out

• Existing and occupied phase: BREEAM Operation & Management
